
OUR FOUNDER
Salahudin "Mr. Sal' Gary was born in Newark, NJ and has deep roots in his community. He graduated from Caldwell College in 2006 with a BA degree in Communication Arts. Mr. Gary has been employed with the East Orange Board of Education since 2011 as an educator and sits on various boards. He has over fifteen years of experience collaborating and working with nonprofit agencies, volunteering in his hometown, neighboring communities, and assisting in shaping the lives of thousands of children.
Salahudin Gary is affectionately known by his students, their parents, and members throughout the community as “Mr. Sal”. He has made it his life’s mission to increase the quality of life for underserved communities.
To date, Legacy Writings Foundation has serviced over 2,000 families through our Annual Fundraisers such as " World Prematurity Day' and " World Autism Awareness Day' and other community events. We can't forget our participation in community and family events that include bookbag giveaways, Halloween celebration, school events and small business functions.
I would like to thank all the schools, parents, stakeholders, and general supporters for collaborating with us over the past five years!
